What is Wordle?
Wordle is the daily 5-letter word game created by Josh Wardle and acquired by The New York Times. It has taken the internet by storm due to its simple yet addictive mechanics. Every day, players have exactly six attempts to guess a hidden five-letter word. After each guess, the game provides feedback by coloring the tiles: green indicates the correct letter in the correct position, yellow indicates the right letter in the wrong spot, and gray means the letter is not in the word at all.

Best Wordle Starting Words
Your first guess in Wordle can make or break your game. A good starting word maximizes the number of common vowels and consonants it uses. Some of the most statistically sound starting words include:
- ADIEU: Excellent for eliminating or confirming vowels early (A, I, E, U).
- CRANE: The statistically "best" starting word according to many algorithms, containing very common consonants and the vowels A and E.
- SLATE: Another top-tier starting word that often leaves you with a highly manageable second guess.
- ROAST: A strong opening that checks common letters without overlapping with too many obscure combinations.
Strategies for Winning
If you want to maintain your streak, strategy is key. Never waste a guess! If you know a letter is gray, do not use a word containing that letter for your next guess unless you are playing in "Hard Mode" and are forced to. Additionally, remember that letters can appear more than once in the target word. Words like "APPLE" or "CLASS" often trip up players because they forget about double letters.
When you are down to your last two guesses and have a scenario where multiple words fit (e.g., _ATCH could be BATCH, CATCH, HATCH, MATCH, PATCH, WATCH), use a "burner word". A burner word is a guess designed specifically to eliminate as many of those starting letters as possible at once, even if it cannot be the correct answer itself.
